The 9U Dragons - Simpson won the TNT May Bash Tournament on Sunday in The Colony.  They beat the Greenville Majors by a score of 13 to 4 in the championship game to win their fourth consecutive game of the day!  After losing both pool play games on Saturday, the Dragons started Sunday as the 14th seeded team.  An 8-3 win over the Keller Chargers in the morning got the Dragons rolling behind the pitching of Brock Zimmer.  Cole Bedwell and Zimmer each added 2 hits to lead the offense.  The next game was a 9-4 win over the Flower Mound Warriors.  Carson Andersen was the winning pitcher while Todd Mallory, Matt Dembiec, and Zimmer each had 2 hits for the Dragons.  In the semi-finals against  the number 1 seeded Angels out of Frisco/Plano, the Dragons fell behind 4-0 after 3 innings while only getting 1 baserunner.  But a 3 run 4th inning followed by an 8 run 5th inning sent the Dragons into the Championship game.  Mallory, Zimmer, and Nolan Wilson each had 2 hits in the contest for the Dragons.  In the Championship game, Hayden Lee threw a complete game as the Dragons beat the Greenville Majors 13-4 in a game shortened by the mercy rule.  Spencer Simpson had three hits for the Dragons to lead the offense.  Will Grubbs and Jack LaBarge added solid defense throughout the day as the Dragons outscored their opponents 41 to 15.  The Dragons season record now stands at 22-11 as they begin play May 25th in the Travel Sports Texas State Minors Tournament in Grapevine.
