Recreation Program

Recreation Program (formerly Cactus):

(Ages 4-18) Our Recreation Program is our most popular program focusing on development of beginning to intermediate players.  The Program introduces baseball to all players, working on core skill development, foundational baseball rules and exposure to multiple positions.  Coaches promote a learning environment and are bound by the DYB rules regarding player positioning allowing players to learn multiple positions.

  • All games are played at Bicentennial Park against other Dragon Youth Baseball teams.  Teams can expect to play 1-2 games per week with 1-2, 60-90 minute practices in Southlake.
  • We attempt to minimize weeknight games as much as possible however some weeknight games may be scheduled.  Most games will be scheduled on Saturdays 8:00AM - 8:00PM and Sundays 1:00PM - 6:00PM.
  • There are no double headers in this program.
  • We attempt to play a maximum of 3 games per week focusing on weekends.
  • Coaches select all practice slots but please note that practices may begin as early as 4:30PM depending on age and for older (14 and older) players end as late at 10:00PM.
  • We expect that 70-80% of our players will participate in this program.

* 4U division plays Blastball.  Blastball is a fun way for players to get familiar with the game.  No scores, no umpires, no practices, pure fun.

Fall Baseball

Our Fall season provides an opportunity for players to transition into their new age group prior to the following year's Spring League. It's also great for those new to our program because of the leagues focus on fundamentals.  Each league are scheduled to play 8-10 games in the fall with opening day in September, generally ending by mid-November.

Spring Baseball

Spring is baseball season and therefore our association sees an influx in participation and talent almost doubling our fall participation levels.  Each league is scheduled for 10-12 games with opening day in February/March, concluding in May with either a single or double elimination tournament where trophies are awarded for 1st and 2nd place.
