(Recreation) Premier Program

Premier Program (formerly Grapefruit):

(Ages 6-18) For those players who begin to advance in skills our Premier Program offers intermediate to advanced players the chance to play against area competition.  The Premier Program builds on the fundamentals learned in the Recreational Program with a focus on advanced core skills. baseball rules and strategy.  Coaches promote a learning environment and are bound by the DYB rules regarding player positioning allowing players to learn multiple positions.  Premier teams do require an increased time commitment from the players and families.

  • To be evaluated for the Premier division all players MUST attend and be evaluated at the Recreation Player Evaluations each Fall and Spring.
  • The independent evaluation data is share with the Premier coaches the night of the Premier draft so that they can form teams.
  • Players who are not drafted for the Premier Division are automatically eligible for Recreational Division play.
  • Premier teams are local travel teams playing half of their games at locations other than Bicentennial Park such as Grapevine, Coppell, Colleyville, Keller, Trophy Club, etc.  These teams can expect to play 1-2 games per week, generally doubleheader format with 1-3, 90-120 minute practices in Southlake.  *note:  DYB provides the same number of practice options for Recreation and Premier programs however Premier teams often find alternative options for additional repetitions.
  • We expect that 20% of our players will participate in this program.
  • Coaches select all practice slots but please note that practices may begin as early as 4:30PM depending on age and for older (14 and older) players end as late at 10:00PM.
  • We attempt to minimize weeknight games as much as possible however some weeknight games may be scheduled.  Most games will be scheduled on Saturdays 8:00AM - 8:00PM and Sundays 1:00PM - 6:00PM and when necessary weekdays 5:00 - 8:00PM
  • Teams can expect to play double headers on weekends.

Fall Baseball

Our Fall season provides an opportunity for players to transition into their new age group prior to the following year's Spring League. It's also great for those new to our program because of the leagues focus on fundamentals.  Each league are scheduled to play 8-10 games in the fall with opening day in September, generally ending by mid-November.

Spring Baseball

Spring is baseball season and therefore our association sees an influx in participation and talent almost doubling our fall participation levels.  Each league is scheduled for 10-12 games with opening day in February/March, concluding in May with either a single or double elimination tournament where trophies are awarded for 1st and 2nd place.
